LETTER FROM DIRECTOR

Dear NILI Students,

Welcome to NILI!   Students, staff and friends around the world have been praying for your semester here in Ecuador for several months.

The idea of a language institute here on our Nazarene Seminary campus in Quito started as a Masters Thesis project.  Quickly the idea went from an academic concept to a real option for raising money for theological education here on the North Andean Field of Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela.  Since funds seem to always be scarce in world mission areas for pastoral preparation, we began praying that God would work out the details and recruit students for our first semester.

However, one morning during prayer, the Lord said to me that the focus of my prayers was misdirected.  It seemed to me that the Lord’s purposes with NILI were not simply to help with finances, but that He wanted to radically change the lives of students who study here.  Since that morning I’ve been asking the Lord to complete His purposes in your lives during this semester.  I’m praying that you will encounter the presence and power of the living God, and when you return to your home, you will return a changed person with a greater desire to serve in the Kingdom of God.

We have many academic, cultural and ministry events planned especially for you.  I encourage you to take advantage of the experience of a lifetime!

May the Lord richly bless you during your time in Ecuador,

Stan Hall, Ph.D.
